Children, teens, and adults are invited to participate in the library’s annual Summer Reading Program, "Imagine Your Story!" in a variety of ways this summer.

Beginning June 8 through July 31, children can download and print or pickup from their library a map of Little Red Riding Hood’s path to Grandma’s house to participate in the "Family Reading Online Challenge" Children can color each step, which equals ten pages, and report on their progress in person, over the phone, or online. The libraries will maintain a chart reflecting an overall reading count, where every 100 pages equals one group step. The library will track the number of pages all participants read and announce the total at the end of the summer.

Kids can also participate in a series of five "Virtual Quests". They can choose challenges based on their interests and receive a prize capsule upon completion. These challenges can be downloaded, printed, and submitted via the library’s website or in person from any Clearwater library. Prizes may be picked up from the library throughout the summer or, if desired, curbside pickup can be arranged after July 31.

Youth staff will be presenting story times and other virtual programs via the library’s website and social media channels. You can view schedule of programs on the library's calendar.

Children are also encouraged to participate in “Reading with the Rays,” which offers prizes for completing reading challenges. Find details here: https://www.mlb.com/rays/community/reading.

The library’s Youth Departments will also be offering a variety of “Crafts-to-Go” kits throughout the summer that children can pick up inside the library while supplies last. Please call (727) 562-4970 for details.

Teens may also participate in the “Teen Books Rock” subscription service. Teens can answer a few questions via a short form on the library’s website and library staff will create a bag filled with books and goodies customized for that teen, which they can pick up inside the library or through the drive-through or curbside service, depending on the location.

Teens are also encouraged to use the #TeenInteractiveCommunity hashtag to share what they are reading over the summer.

Adults can also participate by playing "Adult Summer Reading BINGO." Cards can be downloaded and printed from the library's website or completed online. When players have completed five challenges, they can submit the card at their library or online. Different cards will be available in June, July, and August. For each completed card, participants receive an entry for a special prize drawing on Monday, August 31, 2020.
