"Angelica, Eliza... and Peggy!" The Schuyler Sisters sing in the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton." As the three highborn daughters adventure into New York City to meet with those outside their social circle, the two leading ladies take the stage, Angelica and Eliza, leaving their sister Peggy behind without a voice, dooming her to crowd ensemble and reentrance as a completely new character. However, with Robinson Secondary School's "Dear Diary...<3, P. Schuy," Peggy takes back the script and tells the story as it really is.

Robinson Secondary School's "Dear Diary... Love, P. Schuy" is a video adaptation of a series of tweets by the Twitter user @TheLizWasser telling the story of Hamilton through the character Peggy's eyes. Made for the school's project of creating 10-minute performances for ten weeks, each based on an unconventional source or emerging playwright, "Dear Diary...Love, P. Schuy" perfectly encapsulated its week's theme of That's What She Said as a uniquely female perspective set in a distinctly male dominant time period. Cleverly integrating Peggy into a series of vlogs, the team behind "Dear Diary...Love, P. Schuy" created a humorous and captivating tale centered around a reimagined, vivacious new star.

A one-woman show is no small feat, and actress Emma Fleck (Peggy Schuyler) more than satisfied this task with humor and grace. Her sassy ease on camera made the performance both entertaining and intimate, adding new life to the source material. Most outstandingly, Fleck showed great understanding of both the script and story, clearly delivering her lines with intent and purpose, even performing a whole monologue backwards with perfectly mirrored mannerisms and intonation. Undoubtedly, Fleck gave an outstanding performance and showed great acting skill in this short vlog series.

In a virtual setting, technical crew becomes all the more important in breathing life into the story of the show, making video performances possible. In Robinson Secondary School's "Dear Diary...<3, P. Schuy," the small tech crew shined in creating a cohesive setting and story, giving subtle details that took this production from great to brilliant. Abby Camp (Hair and Makeup Designer) and Harry Glicklin (Costume Designer) immediately set the tone of the show, "Hamilton" but through a different lens: Peggy not quite as anyone has seen her before, as the star of her own show. The sound design, done by Beau Baldassari, let the story flow from scene to scene, while also cluing the audience in on where in the story of Hamilton each scene falls with clever nods to the original score in the background music.

Robinson Secondary School's "Dear Diary...Love, P. Schuy" is a witty parody of an immediately recognizable moment in popular culture that is able to draw from its source material and expand upon it, creating something welcoming and fun. The hard work and attention to detail of the entire team behind this production is to be applauded, and "Dear Diary...Love, P. Schuy" is a must watch for any fans of Hamilton.
