UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Felonious assault: Cedar Road

At 11:30 p.m. April 16, a Euclid man, 25, told police that he was walking on Cedar Road, near Milton Road, as a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and black mask walked toward him. The hooded man asked to use the Euclid man’s phone, and an argument resulted.

The Euclid man said he was then grabbed from behind by the other man and stabbed in the face with an unknown object. EMS treated the Euclid man on the scene and then took him to a hospital emergency room. The victim was uncooperative with police during follow-up questioning and kept changing his story. The victim did not wish to pursue criminal charges. The detective bureau is investigating.

Disorderly conduct: Milton Road

At 9:45 p.m. April 13, police were called to an address in the 2400 block of Milton Road to check on the welfare of a female asleep on a tree lawn. Instead of a woman, police found asleep a University Heights man, 57.

The man was intoxicated and taken to the hospital for evaluation. Prior to the trip to Hillcrest Hospital, police charged the man with disorderly conduct/public intoxication.

Theft: Tullamore Road

At 8:55 a.m. April 15, a woman, 34, reported that the license plates were stolen from her car as it was parked during the previous night in her driveway.

Violation of temporary protection order: Bushnell Road

At 9:55 a.m. April 16, a woman, 72, reported that a man was on her property in violation of a temporary protection order. Police located the man, 66, of South Euclid, arrested him, and took him to the Solon jail.

Theft: South Green Road

At 2:30 p.m. April 16, security at Heinen’s, 2180 S. Green Road, reported that a theft was recorded earlier in the day on the store’s surveillance camera. A male suspect stole $114.14 worth of cleaning products. A possible suspect has been identified and police are continuing to investigate.

Theft: Warrensville Center Road

At 3:50 p.m. April 16, security at Macy’s, 2201 Warrensville Center Road, reported having a shoplifter in custody. The suspect, a Cleveland man, 45, was seen on the store’s surveillance camera stealing $798 worth of purses and then attempting to leave the store without paying for them. Police cited the man for theft and released him.

Discharging a firecracker: Cedar Road

At 2:40 p.m. April 17, an officer saw two men on a lawn discharging aerial firecrackers. As the officer approached the men, one of them ran. Police cited the remaining man, 21, of California for discharging/possessing firecrackers.

Police also learned that the other man is a 20-year-old from Illinois. Police are issuing a criminal summons to the Illinois man for obstructing official business.
