DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Any time of the day at Detroit Lakes Middle School, 12-year-old Kale Hannahs can be found with a smile on his face and unending energy.

"He has a great personality. This is normal; this is Kale every day," said Kale's teacher Katie Biggar. "His peers love him. He is a great addition to our classroom. We adore him. We love him."

While Kale's class always works to include him, there are times and activities when Kale just hangs out. But his friends turned the table on Kale after he told them a story of a dream that he had.

Kale, who has always dreamed of being a football player, actually had a dream about it. So his friends, in a video that has now been viewed by millions over the weekend, made it happen.

It was an act of caring and compassion from middle schoolers just wanting to have some fun with their friend.

"It's a weird age, and I think we sometimes underestimate our own kids," Biggar said. "(The video) was 100% kid-orchestrated. That was them being fun. They treat Kale like that every day."

Kale and his family have heard from relatives and friends around the country who have seen the video on social media and national TV.

Life for Kale started out rough. He was born prematurely in Fargo, during the 2009 flood. Doctors at MeritCare were forced to airlift Kale out of Fargo to Sioux Falls, S.D.

"We didn't get to hold him until they evacuated the hospital," said Kale's mother, Michelle Hannahs.

Kale would later be diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, but nobody has ever questioned his zest for living.

"He is full of happiness all the time," said Michelle Hannahs. "If you are having a bad day, he will make somebody laugh, he will make somebody smile and he will turn your day around in a heartbeat."

Kale is interested in science and computers and has big plans to go from viral video star to MVP.

"If you want to do something, do it," Kale said.
