Trevor Story’s no stranger to long home runs.
The Rockies shortstop on Monday hit a 518-foot blast to left field during the first round of the Home Run Derby. It set a record for the longest home run in the competition’s history, besting Yankees’ Aaron Judge’s 513-foot blast in 2017.
The record stood for a bit before Nationals’ Juan Soto hit a 520-foot homer in his first round.
Juan Soto with a 520-foot blast … 2 feet longer than #Rockies Trevor Story.

Story would go on to win his head-to-head matchup, 20-19, against Rangers’ Joey Gallo to advance to the second round where he is set to face Baltimore’s Trey Mancini.
