Hunter Schafer wants to see the story of Coriolanus Snow's cousin Tigris continue beyond The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Tigris was introduced in the Mockingjay novel and made her onscreen debut in Mockingjay: Part Two. In Mockingjay, she is a disgraced Hunger Games stylist who has the appearance of a tiger due to surgical alterations. Tigris gives Katniss Everdeen and her surviving allies sanctuary in the Capitol, and gladly helps Katniss in getting a step closer to killing President Snow.
Schafer told Entertainment Weekly she would "absolutely" be interested in playing the role of Tigris again in a future Hunger Games story. She shares the same enthusiasm and curiosity that surrounds the character's transformation. Her trajectory of Snow's loving cousin to a woman who smiles when Katniss says she is going to kill Snow is something that has yet to be fully explored, along with her feline physical transformation. Read Schafer's comments below:
I want to know what happens, even if I wasn’t playing her. I want to know how we get there.
How Tigris' Story Can Continue
With Tigris being alive during the Dark Days and throughout the 75-year-history of the Hunger Games, there are plenty of opportunities in the timeline to continue her story if Suzanne Collins writes another book or if another film is made. A new story could follow Tigris' journey as a stylist alongside Snow's rise to power. As he becomes increasingly ruthless and selfish, the estrangement between him and Tigris can continue to develop, as he becomes less and less of the cousin she remembers and once loved.
Since Tigris becomes a stylist, it would also be easy to incorporate her in a story told after the 10th Hunger Games. It is currently unknown which year she first became a stylist or the year she was fired from being a stylist, other than the latter happening before the 74th Hunger Games. This means that a story about Haymitch Abernathy, Finnick Odair, Johanna Mason, or other previous victors could easily incorporate Tigris into the narrative as well, perhaps even culminating with Snow having her fired, and reaching a point of no return in their relationship.
If Tigris' story doesn't continue, at least The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' ending does enough to connect the dots to the character's first appearance in Mockingjay. There is clear tension and disapproval in her final scene with Snow and the way she looks at him. While she doesn't know everything he's done, she's smart enough to see the dark path he's chosen for himself. From poisoning his enemies to sex trafficking Finnick, Snow goes on to do countless horrific things, and it's not difficult to see how Tigris would reach the point of wanting her cousin dead.
