The universe is made of stories. As an entrepreneur, I like helping people and enjoy solving problems with technology. This journey has helped me connect with other people and has made me part of their stories -- stories that are interesting, fun and magical. Also, stories can help you learn about yourself or learn something new. Think about your day, the things that happen to you and everything you do. Did you ever think that you are creating stories every day -- or being part of someone else's?

As a techie and a programmer, I am fascinated with the world of zeroes and ones. I am inspired by how Microsoft's founder Bill Gates, who created Windows and Microsoft Office, touched and connected with billions of people. Similarly, Steve Jobs, who founded Apple, continues to be a part of our lives with iPhones, Macs and other brilliant technology that he has helped create. I can't believe how many stories they are a part of -- and that's amazing.

My daughter loves to talk about Humphrey the hamster, who appears in stories written by Betty G. Birney, and how Humphrey connects with humans and becomes part of their day-to-day stories. Every weekend, he goes to a new student’s house, where he makes connections with their family and learns more about them. I find it incredible, and it makes for great stories.

Over the last several years, my team and I have been creating software applications that have helped me reach a lot of people and affect their lives by being part of their stories. As a technologist, I have been a part of building several hundred applications, and each application connects with its users in its own unique way. These different software applications help me connect and be a part of someone else's story, and however small it might be, I find that very exciting.

I have always wondered how the technology that visionaries dream of and developers build impacts and affects people. These applications are built for various age groups and audiences around the world -- they could be anything. One example is a fitness platform that helps people exercise and improve their health and wellness. Another example could be a social media platform that allows people to share their stories and connect with their friends and families. One final example could be several software as a service (SaaS) platforms that help improve business and personal productivity. In my business -- and most businesses -- we try to solve problems in a way that allows clients to connect with their users and helps them to be a part of their users' stories.

Applications that are built for consumers or businesses help engage, entertain, connect and solve interesting problems, but the most important outcome of selling these products is becoming a part of another story. I couldn't be happier knowing this is helping me and my team be a part of so many stories worldwide -- and giving us a purpose.

It is stories that make us human. Similar to the human connection stories bring us, the ones and zeroes in our code help us create connections the digital world. The question I am always asking myself is, "How can I be more effective in being a part of someone else's story?” How can I create a bigger impact? How can I be a part of as many stories as possible?

In my opinion, in any business or service, you can be a part of your clients' stories with whatever value you are creating, and the pleasure and joy of knowing that you are being a part of someone else's success -- as well as their story -- is priceless. If your company has strong values -- and if you align these values with your clients' values -- you will be able to create an amazing ecosystem of stories.

When you are designing your software -- or developing your tool, solution or service -- it's vital that you imagine its place in the story of your client. What will make them appreciate your company as a central part of their day? Start here, and you, too, can be an essential part of many stories to come.
