Life Tribute columns, lined up like sentinels guarding the past. Stories of lives gifted with many accomplishments. Some read like novels, only better, as they reflect real lives. The sweet faces. Hoping that they loved, and were loved, by someone. Some listing family of times past, some present. Long lives well lived, but sadly, some not as much.
Requests for remembrances, allowing the legacy to survive. I have read these stories for years in this paper, but never knew why. Now I do. “Showing up as a witness to someone else’s loss is a vital expression of our own humanity.” The least, and only, thing I can do to honor these folks, is to read their last story. We all have one. It, too, shall come one day.
