While Disney+ usually releases new episodes weekly, they decided to release the entire season of Diary of the Future President at one time. This has its pros and cons, with the biggest con being that after a quick binge-watch, fans now have to find something new to watch. Luckily, there are plenty of shows from the past and present that can fill the void Diary of a Future President left behind.

10 Andi Mack (2017 - 2019) - Available On Disney+

Andi Mack is arguably one of Disney Channel's most influential shows of the 2010s, available to stream. The series focused on teenager Andi, whose world is rocked when she discovers that her older sister is actually her mother. Thankfully, Andi has a supportive group of friends who help her navigate the confusing world she's uncovered.

Andi Mack is great for fans of Diary of a Future President because Andi and Elena have a lot in common. The series also is great for fans who love Bobby's storyline, because Cyrus goes on a similar journey in regards to his sexuality.

9 Girl Meets World (2014 - 2017) - Available On Disney+

Nearly two decades after the iconic family sitcom, Boy Meets Worldwent off the air, the series was rebooted for Disney Channel and centered on Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory and Topanga. Girl Meets World tapped into the same magic of the first series and follows Riley and her tight-knit group of friends as they navigate middle and high school together.

Like Diary of a Future President, Girl Meets World has a strong female protagonist who doesn't always get things right. Elena and Riley also have a close bond with their parents who help them navigate their ever-changing worlds.

8 High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019 - ) - Available On Disney+

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series ushered in a whole new generation of East High Wildcats when the series debuted on Disney+ in November 2019. The series follows the East High drama department as they put on their school's first-ever production of High School Musical under the direction of their brand new drama teacher.

This is a great show for Diary of a Future President fans who loved the musical storyline that happens in season 2. In fact, Miss Jenn and Ms. Ortega have a lot in common, as they're both over-the-top and passionate drama teachers with a vision.

Julie and the Phantoms dropped in the midst of the COVID-19 lockdown and gave fans a much-needed escape from reality. Things start to look up when Julie accidentally summons the spirits of three former members of a rock band who died before they got their big break.

What makes these two shows similar is the fact that they both tell stories of teens mourning the loss of a parent. In Julie's case, it's the death of her mother and for Elena, it's the death of her father. And even though grief is hard, these young protagonists learn that the best way to honor someone's life is to continue to live theirs.

6 Lizzie McGuire (2001 - 2004) - Available On Disney+

Lizzie McGuire is a classic Disney+ TV series from the early 2000s and it even spawned a movie that served as the show's finale. The series centers on 13-year-old Lizzie McGuire, who is awkward and insecure in real life but has an assertive and confident voice in her head that tries to steer her in the right direction.

Lizzie and Elena have a lot in common, including the fact that they both hear voices in their head. Lizzie's consciousness takes the form of an animated character, while Elena regularly conjures up her future self to give her pep talks. These two also have extremely loyal friends who help make middle school a bit easier.

5 Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide (2004 - 2007) - Available On Amazon Prime

Ned's Declassified: Ned Bigby looking worried

Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide is definitely one of the best Nickelodeon shows of the 2000s. Ned Bigby has made it his mission to help his friends survive middle school by curating an extensive guide of tips to help them navigate everything the middle school has to offer. From first days and bad teachers to bad haircuts, Ned leaves no topic untouched.

One of the biggest similarities between these two shows is that both Ned and Elena truly care about their peers' wellbeing and want to make middle school a better place for everyone.

4 Never Have I Ever (2019 - ) - Available On Netflix

Mindy Kaling's Never Have I Ever has certainly become one of Netflix's best teen series in recent years and rightfully so. The hilarious and oftentimes awkward show follows Devi, a young high school student who is determined to turn her life around after a traumatic year that began with the death of her father.

Devi and Elena are two of the most flawed main characters found in young adult TV series, but that's what makes them so amazing. These young girls are allowed to make mistakes that they ultimately end up learning from. And though Never Have I Ever is more mature than Diary of A Future President, the shows both teach the same moral life lessons.

3 One Day At A Time (2017 - 2020) - Available On Netflix

One Day At A Time

One Day At A Time has had a rough go, having been canceled, revived, and then canceled again, but the heart of the show lives on despite it being off the air. Centered around the Cuban-American Alverez family, the sitcom told a variety of stories, ranging from Elena coming out as a lesbian, Penelope dealing with her PTSD from the war, Alex dating, and Lydia grieving the loss of her late husband.

Both One Day At A Time and Diary of a Future President center on Cuban-American families and both explore the culture and traditions that stem from that identity. They also emphasize the importance of a strong family unit that supports and loves each other unconditionally.

2 The Baby-Sitters Club (2020 - ) - Available On Netflix

Netflix decided to bring The Baby-Sitters Club into the 21st century by adapting the beloved book series into an original teen TV show in 2020. Like the books, the series follows the lives of four young girls who start their own babysitting business to earn extra cash and prove to their families that they're mature and independent.

The girls that make up The Baby-Sitters Club are very similar to Elena's own girl group in the second season of Diary of a Future President. Not only do these girls support each other, but they're also determined to make the world around them a better place.

1 Unfabulous (2004 - 2007) - Available On Amazon Prime

Unfabulous centers on the life of Addie Singer, a young middle schooler who channels her anxieties about life into original songs. With the support and love from her two best friends and her family, Addie is able to overcome even her most embarrassing middle school situations.

Unfabulous might be a forgotten 2000s Nickelodeon show, but it's one that certainly deserves to be revisited, especially by fans of Diary of a Future President. Addie and Elena both are very naive but ambitious characters, which makes them great role models for young viewers.
