Yes, there is another Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie coming out on Disney+ this weekend, and yes, it is technically the fifth movie in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film franchise. I’m shocked too, but it’s true—that wimpy kid just keeps writing journal entries, apparently!
The 2021 Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie is technically a reboot of the film series and will be the first animated Wimpy Kid movie. Directed by Swinton Scott—best known for his work on The Simpsons—the script was written by Jeff Kinney, the original author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series that first published in 2007.
This time around, Brady Noon will star as the voice of Greg Heffley, the titular wimpy kid, while Ethan William Childress voices Greg’s best friend Rowley Jefferson and Chris Diamantopoulos voices Greg’s father, Frank Heffley.
