The wait is finally over, people. Daisy Jones & The Six has made its way to Amazon Prime. Let the madness begin. For the uninitiated, the new drama series is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book of the same. The story follows the meteoric rise of a band in the '70s. The group's reign is cut short after its two lead singers, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunn, fall in love. Messy! I know.

If you’re familiar with the very-real band Fleetwood Mac, you're probably wondering: is Daisy Jones & The Six based on the group's story? Well, yes—at least partially. Reid’s novel doesn’t follow the Fleetwood Mac saga exactly, but it’s close. Daisy Jones & The Six is loosely based on Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s tortured romance. Prior to Fleetwood Mac becoming the legendary band it is today, Buckingham and Nicks were two solo artists who’d just begun dating. By the time Fleetwood Mac hit its heyday, their relationship moved to a somewhat rocky state, all while the band produced chart-topping hits. It was an impossible situation: do you keep making music for the benefit of the group, or prioritize your well-being? That very question is what inspired Daisy Jones & The Six. Though the details differ in Reid's fictional tale, that mind-bending proposition upends the protagonists' lives.

Like Nicks and Buckingham, Daisy and Billy create magic together. The songs peppered throughout the series are so vivid and emotional, it’s easy to forget their connection is pure fiction. In one major scene—which will premiere later this month—Daisy and Billy perform their own version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs.” It’s not a cover by any means, but the "you broke my heart and I’ll never let you forget it" energy is alive and well.

Aside from the music, Daisy Jones & The Six also depicts themes of power and betrayal throughout its storyline, much like what you'd find in a Fleetwood Mac biography. I won’t spoil anything just yet, but Daisy Jones & The Six features cheating scandals, drunken affairs, and power struggles that lead to full-blown brawls. It’s the epitome of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. What more could you want?

If you’re planning to tune into Daisy Jones & The Six, prepare for a whirlwind of emotions. You’ll laugh, cry, and probably get a song or two stuck in your head along the way. Throughout each episode, the star-studded cast weaves together a story of love and loss. If you’ve ever struggled to let go of something—or someone—that's wrong for you, then it’s sure to hit home. But if watching that unfold is too much to bear, you can always turn on some Fleetwood Mac instead.
