Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski is known for her bold photos and “anything for the shot” mentality while on set. The mom of one made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2014 with photographer Walter Iooss Jr. in a guitar pick body paint session. She returned to the magazine again in 2015 and was photographed by Yu Tsai in Kauai, Hawai’i.
A member of the swim team carefully painted each individual guitar pick onto the now 31-year-old’s body. Each triangle shape was emblazoned with “SI.” A sparkly chain strap made out of rhinestones lay flat along Ratajkowski’s hips, behind her neck and across her back.
“The color is going in on the guitar picks,” body painting artist Joanne Gair explained. “There’s dimension and sparkle going on with the chain.”
“[This] is so exciting,” the My Body author said at the time.
SI Swimsuit model Bar Rafaeli wore a similar guitar pick swimsuit, made by Susan Holmes, when she was photographed by Raphael Mazzucco in Jamaica in 2007.
