Sky explores life after the story ends - Kidscreen

Sky is diving into life after “happily ever after” with a pair of family specials from King Bert Productions. The UK-based pay-TV operator commissioned Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After and Hansel & Gretel: After Ever After for Sky One and NOW TV.

Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After is set to air on December 25, with production starting next month. Starring David Walliams (pictured), Sheridan Smith and Blake Harrison, the hour-long special was created and written by Walliams and the Dawson Brothers, a trio of comedy-writing siblings. The story picks up where the classic fairytale ends, with Jack safely on solid ground and the Giant working to find a way back to his home at the top of the beanstalk.

A broadcast date for Hansel & Gretel: After Ever After will be announced at a later date, and the two post-fairytale tales follow in the successful wake of 2019′s Cinderella: After Ever After.

This isn’t the first time Sky and Walliams have collaborated on kids content. Sky adapted the comedian’s Ratburger book into a series that aired on its Sky1 channel around Christmas 2017 before migrating to the Sky Go platform.

For its part, 9 Story Media Group inked a deal with Walliams’ King Bert Productions last year to develop and co-produce an animated sketch series based on his book series The World’s Worst Children. This 52 x 11-minute series is being co-produced by 9 Story’s animation studio Brown Bag Films and King Bert.
