First opening weekend of rifle season will always be one of our family’s favorite weekends of the year. But bringing in a new member into this deer hunting party will always be a refreshing reminder of the excitement that a fresh pair of eyes can bring to a family group.
For 10 year old Pablo Tristan Garza, son of Sonny and Ashley Garza of Mission, his first two weekends have gone great at his family’s L&G Ranch. This is not a new sport for Tristan. He has been hunting for several years now.
While not every trip into the woods ends with a deer, Tristan harvested a wild turkey on opening weekend and a beautiful 16 pointer beast this second weekend. Seems as though once Tristan starts those wandering eyes from his blind looking for deer, nilgai, pigs and even turkeys, he has quite an aim to take that animal down.
Tristan has often observed the mounts on the wall of the Ranch’s Guest House and has reminisced on the family’s hunting accomplishments. More importantly, the mounts remind him of the bond that hunting has formed within our family.
His first thought, “I want my deer mounted next to all of those on the wall.”
More excited than a KID AT CHRISTMAS, was his poppa, Pablo Garza, Jr. who shares such exciting stories about his excursions with his boys.
