Disney reveals the Diary of a Wimpy Kid animated film is becoming a franchise with the release of two new posters. Penned by cartoonist Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid are the journals of a teenager Greg Heffley, who stocks up the pages with simple drawings, silly adventures, and his point of view of challenges he faces a middle school. Released in 2004, Diary of a Wimpy Kid became a literary success and was adapted into a film that starred Zachary Gordan as Greg. Last year, Disney+ announced that the popular young adult series was getting a new animated adaption.

During Disney+ Day announcements, the streaming survive unveiled the new poster for Diary of a Wimpy Kid and revealed Diary of Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules is a second animated film that will expand the franchise. Slated to debut exclusively on Disney+ on December 3, Diary of a Wimpy Kid will be set in 3D animated style, nodding to creator Kinney’s original series.
