ORLANDO, Fla. – Jan. 15 marks 37 years since the U.S. began observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The federal holiday marks the birthday of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It is observed on the third Monday of January each year.

News 6 is committed to reflecting our communities and honoring the great accomplishments of those whose lives have contributed to the betterment of society.
