Game one didn’t go too well, but today’s a new day. Win this and we’re back to a tie.
Maybe Brandon is coming out of his funk? After Meadows made an out, he ripped a home run to left center field off of Tony Gonsolin.
Arozorena and Choi went down quietly but Snell came on the mound with a one-run lead.
Snell took care of business. Struck out Mookie, got Seager fly out, and struck out Turner.
With Gonsolin out for a second inning, Margot drew a walk. Margot flashed his speed with a stolen base and tagging from second to third.
In a surprise move, Robert brought in Dylan Floro to face Willy in just the second inning. It worked out for the Dodgers, as Willy grounded into a force out at home, and then was thrown out trying to steal second.
Despite a couple walks Snell kept the Dodgers off the board for another inning, including two strikeouts.
Dylan Floro and Victor Gonzalez combined to put the Rays down in order.
Snell kept it rolling. Struck out Chris Taylor, got Betts to groundout and then struck out NLCS MVP Corey Seager.
Victor Gonzalez walked Randy with one away. After two outs he pulled Gonzalez for Dustin May, and the Rays made him pay.
Margot chopped a single to right field and Joey Wendle gave the big blow with a two-run double. Rays lead 3-0.
Snell followed up with a shutdown inning. And two more strikeouts.
Lowe struck again in the fifth inning. After a Meadows single, Lowe went deep for the second time tonight . Lead stood at 5-0.
Snell wasn’t quite as strong in the fifth. There were two quick outs, but then the dreaded two out walk. Chris Taylor crushed a two-run home run. After a Mookie walk and a Seager single, Snell was done. A poor ending to a promising evening.
Nick Anderson struck out Turner though, and the lead held at 5-2.
Luckily, the Rays bats kept pushing. Choi singled, Margot singled with Choi getting to third base. Wendle came through with a sac-fly and the Rays lead 6-2.
The Dodgers responded with a Will Smith home run though. 6-3 Rays after six innings.
Alex Wood came in for his series debut. The Rays got a couple baserunners on but couldn’t push a run.
Pete Fairbanks came in for the eighth. It was a nice, calm, 1-2-3 inning.
The Rays didn’t score in the eighth, but Willy Adames doubled. A good sign, the Rays will need his bat if they’re going to pull off a series win.
Seager got Fairbanks for a home run though, tightening the game up to 6-4. And then Justin Turner
Max Muncy then flew out and Will Smith lined a ball fortuitously into Joey Wendle’s glove. Aaron Loup came in to face lefty Cody Bellinger, and he got him on a called strike three. Had it all the way.
Former Ray Jake McGee came in for the ninth inning. Again, the Rays put a couple runners on base. But alas, no runs would come of the inning. Brosseau grounded out with men on first and second to end the inning.
In the bottom half, Aaron Loup got Edwin Rios looking, and got Austin Barnes out on a groundout. Diego Castillo came in for the final out, and he got Chris Taylor to chase to secure the 6-4 win. Series tied 1-1.
